GoGet Car to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Now THAT'S a mouthful!

We signed up for the car share service GoGet Cars, which is kind of like Zip Cars in NYC. It's got a cool, online booking system and the car is parked on our block...could not be more convenient. A Ferrari would have been nice, but we were happy with a Toyota. Plus, you start the vehicle with a SmartCard, which is way cool, dudes.

Driving on the "opposite" side of the road was pretty easy...if you don't count the time I almost turned into a heavy stream of oncoming traffic. (Hey, maybe they were all going the wrong way!)

So we drove on Sunday for about an hour to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and it was a real revelation. Several lush fingerling peninsulas jutting out into the sea, and we saw several kangaroos in the park which jumped (hopped?) right past us. One was about as tall as me...but had better hair. Though I smell much more pleasant.

The view over the ocean and out to several small islands is postcardish and we walked down to the beach, enjoying a peaceful dip until some people came with their kids, two tykes who habitually and in unison made high-pitched squeals every single time a wave came in. NOTE TO PARENTS EVERYWHERE: teach your children not to squeal in public, others nearby may think unkind -- even spiteful -- thoughts about your brood.

Nonetheless, a most pleasant afternoon was had by Yours Truly and Zig. Though the kangaroo just barely fit in the trunk of our GoGet car.
